two out of town trips in a week!

last thurday, we went to visit carlo's lola in sariaya quezon. the last time we went there, if i rememeber it right, was on new year's day in 2004! that was more than a year ago. and the last time we saw her was on our wedding day, and that was like what, eight months ago. well, it's really a good thing we went there to check her and she's so happy to see us. we left the house around 12 noon, dropped by la vista, (near ateneo) to fetch carlo's aunt and cousin who came with us, so we officially left manila around 1pm. the streets were all wide and quiet so there's no traffic in going there. by the time everyone was sleepy and bored nianne started to entertain us with her songs and everybody was definitely entertained. hah hah! we arrived at the place around 3pm. first ofcourse, the beso to the two lolas, and some quick kumusta. then we had lunch together and just basically ate all the food we had bought for everybody. after eating, we gave our pasalubong to lola and made some kwento again. then around 5pm we went to the cemetery to visit carlo's uncle and grandfather. after there we went to a store named Cadiz (the owner's a relative) to buy some pasalubong like broas, rosquillos, pastillas etc. and went to another store and bought some yummy longganisang lukban and went back to the house. when we got back, carlo's grandaunt, lola conching, gave the girls some handbags as pamana or just simply gifts. she gave me a cute yellow handbag, and it was really cute, as in, literally, haha! we'll we went home before 7pm. after hearing about four repeats of lola hening's list of the things we should do and eat, we finally hit the road home, hah hah!

last saturday, we went to Villa Mejia in Los Baños Laguna for a hot spring swim. we've been there about three weeks ago, but this time we had rented an entire place, there were two swimming pools, one mini pool for kids and one for adults, the water's from 3 to 5 feet high and there's a slide to it as well. there are two bedrooms with three beds on each room. there's a pavillion where everybody can sit and eat over a long wide dining table, there's a videoke machine, a griller, a stove, a sink, even a refrigerator. there's just one toilet, but the showers were all over the place. the parking lot is good for 6 cars as well. it was really a nice place. we arrived at the place around 11am, first we helped on fixing the stuff and food we brought while others enjoy at the pool. we had lunch at 1pm and just enjoyed swimming and playing around. well, all in all, we had fun. i did two songs on videoke, was on the water for a total of 5 hours, had four rounds of slide, carried my sister-in-law on my back for about ten minutes, had three instances of making nianne stop crying, and had perfected our so called mermaid's stroke! hah hah! we left the place around 6pm and arrived home after one and a half hour trip. i was dead tired and silent by then.

it was definitely a busy week for me. however, being able to instantly escape on the busy city life and all that. i really wish i can do this on a regular basis. and still hoping. (",)

blog week 124

well, this week is definitely a "no sleep week" for me! well, it's my choice so i'm fine! haha!

the ususal monday blues happened except that nianne is officially off to vacation already! wahoo! she's definitely looking forward for her upcoming swimming lessons and we had her hair cut as well, same style as mine and now we look like each other! haha! back to office and getting ready myself for a 10 day work load to grant the request of my good colleague kiko! good karma comin'!

went home straight on tuesday and just tried to get as much sleep as i can. even if it requires waking up every hour for some on-going construction and they're really noisy, like me, hehe! woke up around 8pm, prepared dinner and off to work. there's technically no holy week in the states so we're like regular operations and calls and all that. but there's just a lot of fun in the office, so it's nice!

i felt oh so sick on wednesday morning! i went home straight and just slept from 10am to 8pm. wow, that was a so called sleep! then we had dinner and went to tita rea's place to get the stuff my dad had sent us. the earrings he sent for nianne and me were definitely oh so cute, and my sister alexa is getting bigger and bigger in no time and she's definitely pretty! then i headed to the office with all that egg sandwich they gave us.

went home straight on thursday morning. but unfortunately, mrt's closed so joe and i had to ride the bus to qc. i arrived home around past 9am, and carlo just instantly decided that we should just go with his family in sariaya quezon, so we did. we left around 12noon, and we're back to manila before 9pm, they dropped me at the office before they headed home. yes, i haven't slept for the entire night and day and that night i'm back to the office for another 9 hour shift of work! that was a total of i think more than 36 hours being awake! DARNA!

carlo fetched me at the office 8am, after my shift on friday morning. since there were definitely no way of transportation that day, and that i haven't slept for about one and half day already and he's worried. we dropped by the market to get some food, specifically seafoods, since it's good friday and we shouldn't eat meat! we got home around 9am, had breakfast and slept until 10pm. headed to the office and was late for about 40 minutes.

we had a team meeting early morning on saturday. carlo fetched me around 10am, then we went to laguna for another family outing. we stayed there for a day and went home around 7pm. i was supposed to go to work, but since i feel so sick, with no sick and had no voice to speak, i called-in absent, but i was marked ncns(no call no show) since i called an hour and a half before my shift, which should've been two hours before my shift! damn! well, it was then a good thing to skip work that night. carlo and i had some modnight snacks, eating pandesal and had lots of fun hearing stories about just anything. we slept before midnight.

woke up around 9am on sunday morning. prepared breakfast and just went back to bed after eating and woke up around 5pm. cooked dinner while watching tv. had dinner by past 7 and arrived at the office before 9pm.

movies 109

MILLION DOLLAR BABY (Hilary Swank, Clint Eastwood) - a story about an independent girl, who had worked hard to earn a living. and the only thing she does that make her feel good is boxing. she did everything to enroll on a training school and to be trained by the trainer she want. she was really a great fighter until she was paralyzed due to an accident on one of her fights. her case was really hopeless, she was given oxygen 24 hours everyday and the only part of her body she can move are her lips and tongue. but her trainer was with her all along. in the end she had requested her trainer to just let her go. it was good although it's not something unique and all that. how i just wish it's confirmed clearly, if her trainer was really her father why and how since in the end it's still a question. and it really surprised me that the story will revolve around boxing and stuff, but it's nice. rated 9!

STEPFORD WIVES (Nicole Kidman) - a story of a family who had moved in to a new village/town called stepford who has a secret, all of the wives are oh so perfect and their husbands are always happy. well, that's because the wives are being controlled, they're human robots. well, not really because they are still what they are, humans, but they had added some called microchips on their brain to make them perfect. nicole kidman was great as usual and the story is new and cool. i just love the twist in the end and the line about aol is freakin' hillarious! rated 10!

MULAN 2 - just the continuation of the first mulan movie, where in this part, mulan is already engaged and she was known to be a woman, a real one, from the start. the usual mission and adventure was still involved, but the thing i loved most was ofcourse the love story. nianne just watched the film the entire friday and saturday over and over again. rated 8!

IMELDA - a documentary that features the life and may i say, the lifestyle of former first lady Imelda Romualdez- Marcos. one word for her would be glamorous. everything was shown on the movie, her jewelries and diamonds, which will sum up to about 3 billion dollars worth, her gowns and dresses, which had made a lot of people blind because they work on the embroidery 24 hours a day, her shoes, about 3,600 pairs of them, her relationship with ferdinand marcos and how he treated her like a prisoner and a goddess at the same time, and just how she feel she represents the country and everybody, that if she looks beautiful, philippines will be beautiful, hahaha! it was really funny, but the movie was an eye-opener. come to think how much they earn from being in power for 21 years, we're talking about billions of dollars which were all wasted to imelda's stuff. well, everybody needs to watch this, and make sure you will not be hypnotized! rated 10! kudos to ramona s. diaz!

i was up by 8am on monday morning. i was really feeling oh so lazy, sleepy and sick as usual. cooked breakfast and ate just before we prepare nianne for school. then they left arouns 11am, i stayed home and slept. i woke up around 5pm and cooked spaghetti in celebration for batch 3's anniversary! cooked dinner and took a nap again for about an hour. the traffic in edsa was really hopeless, good thing we left the house soon enough to make it in the office before 11pm. everyone had a feast on my sweet spaghetti, well, almost!

after my shift on tuesday morning, i underwent the annual physical examination. come to think that i haven't been thru the pre-employment one, hah hah! it was cool. the doctor was so kind enough all of my stupid questions and all that. well, i just wish and pray deep that i am not that bad to have any cancer or bad infection of some sort. i just love my job that i can't imagine my health being the bad thing behind any success instored for me. i went home by 10am. waited fro carlo at mcdonalds near the quezon avenue station, well, yeah, 2nd mcdonald meal eaten for the day! i ate mcdonalds for my lunch last 3am. then after they arrived, we brought nianne to school, then carlo went to some lto office again while i slept in the car. i woke up with all that sweat and everything, god, i will never sleep on a leather seat again! ever again! and it's already 3pm, meaning, 3 hours had passed already. we went right ahead to fetch nianne, then we dropped by my in-laws house to get another car, ate at mcdonald's again! the third time for the day. then went home and officially slept by 5pm. i woke up by 10pm and whatelse, i was late for about 10+ minutes. well, it's not that stressful again thank god, and i ate mcdonalds again, my fourth for the day!

we had breakfast at pancake house after my shift on wednesday morning. i arrived at home around 11am, then carlo and nianne left after half an hour. then i slept and woke up around 5pm because my tummy really aches, i needed to stay inside the restroom for about an hour. i tried to slept again and woke up by 8pm to prepare dinner, carlo woke me up. we ate around 9pm, and arrived at the office by 10:30, early enough to check my mails and it was a bad start when i found out that there was something stupid that made me fail my qa session! well, forget it!

went home right away on thursday morning. had breakfast when we got home, prepared nianne for school and slept when they left by 11am. i woke up 7pm when carlo woke me up, watched some stuff on tv, and left the house before 9pm. we first dropped by mcdonalds for dinner, not again! then we went to shopwise for some groceries. i arrived at the office by 11, and i am freakin' late by a minute. not much stress, good thing. but there were still a lot of calls as usual.

went home right ahead on friday morning. it was really a great day as i felt since i had planned to skip work that night. when i got home, we had breakfast and just rested for about until after lunch, then we went to sm mall to buy some thank you gift for nianne's teacher and my uncle for his birthday. then we went to my in-laws house and watched million dollar baby on video. we dropped by the video store before going home around 7pm. we had dinner and slept around 10.

i was up by 6am on saturday morning. prepared all the stuff we need for the busy day, i woke them up by 7am, prepared breakfast and just prepared nianne and ourselves. we left the house by past 8am. we attended nianne's recognition rites from 9am until 11am. then we went to my in-laws house, then we had lunch at maxx, then nianne and i went home, i slept, carlo left again and nianne just watched nianne on video for who knows how many times. carlo went back around 7pm then we went to my lolo's house and had dinner there in celebration for tito jesse's birthday. we went home by 10pm and slept around 1am.

woke up around 8am on sunday morning. prepared breakfast and just cleaned the mess we had for the past week. we did the laundry and just rested. i fell asleep by 5pm and i just slept until 6am the following day. what a really wasted restday. well, i was tired ...

75 things to remember

1. If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away. If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay.
2. Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.
3. If you have ANY doubt in your mind about a man's character, leave Him alone.

6. Don't force an attraction.
7. Slower is better.
8. Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy.
9. If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no you can't "be friends." A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend.
10. Have faith in God regarding your relationship, but don't let faith make you stupid. God does things decent and in order.
11. Don't settle.
12. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is.
13. If he keeps changing his mind about the relationship--take that as a BIG sign that he is unstable. Do you really want to be with a man like that?
14. Don't stay because you think "it will get better." You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better.
15. Honorable men take care of their business and aren't involved in a whole lot of mess.
16. The only person you can control in a relationship is you.

17. There's only one 'reason' a man dumps you; he doesn't want you.

25. Know when to cut the cord, don't be strung along.
26. Don't fall for the "I'm confused role". Remove yourself from the situation to let him figure things out (but don't wait for him, move on).
27. If you want to have a clue as to how he will treat you, watch how hetreats the WOMEN in his family (not just mom).
28. There's more than physical abuse, there's emotional and mental abuse. If he causes any of them...flee.
29. You cannot change a man's behaviors. Change comes from within.
30. Don't let him place rules on you that he is not willing to follow himself -- double-standard.
31. Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are...even if he has more education or in a better job.

33. Demand respect and if he can't give it, he can't have you!
34. Don't compete with other woman, but be aware that men are attracted to what they see.

movies 108

BRIDGET JONES' DIARY (Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant Colin Firth) - a story about a girl who had setup some new year's resolution and had written everything on a diary. she had planned to lose weight, to change her form of wardrobe and to have a boyfriend that is oh so perfect enough for her. well, the first resolution was really a dream for her and she's hopeless on that, and she has been trying to work on the second one, but the boyfriend thing was really were the story revolves in. she first falls for her boss, who happened to be a bad choice actually. then she ended up with the man she met on the day she decided to put her resolutions on a diary. well, the story was not that typical love story we watch every now and then, but it's nice, and i love bridget's accent! hah hah! rated 9!

BRIDGET JONES: the edge of reason (Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant Colin Firth) - it's simply just the continuation of bridget's mission on her resolutions, a whole new diary and a colorful love life, so happy with her boyfriend who really loves her and all that. well, the same concept goes, there are her friends who had always been her refuge and back-up, her loving boyfriend and her ex-boss/ ex-boyfriend who had tried to win her back/ fool her again by finding a way to work with her on the same company/ tv show. well, there's just one part of the film that really touched me, it was the part wherein, mark said i love you to bridget and the way he proposedm it's so sincere! and the part when she was in jail, and she realized that her boyfriend's really not that bad, and that the girl that she had been jelous about is a lesbian who is actually in-love with her. so funny. the second part really had a lot more surprises which i enjoyed more. 10 for the rating.

80 DAYS AROUND THE WORLD (Jackie Chan) - a story about a chinese man who had travelled to england to get the sacret buddah which was stolen from their tribe. well, accidentally, he was the one who was told to have stolen it from england. he had met an inventor on his way running away from it all, and they had started a journey of their own. they have travelled to different countries and have met different people. what's interesting was, in every place they go, there is one hollywood star playing an important role on that place, who happened to be a guest on the movie. like when they went to istanbul, the king was played by arnold schwarzenegger, and when they were trapped on a dessert, they met the warner brothers, which was played by Luke and Owen Wilson. it was a cool movie, rated 7.

LET THE LOVE BEGIN (Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin) - a story about two people from different worlds and lifestyle, where destiny finds it's way to make them meet again and be together something. it's just another not possible love thing story we watch, but it's cute. and the transition of the roles from the high school days up to corporate office times are shown. and i really find mark herras and jennilyn mercado cute. i like them. rated 8 for the cute story and good chemistry.

DREAMBOY (Piolo Pascual and Bea Alonzo) - a story about a simple girl, who had never had a boyfriend because her time is all focused on her work, pocketbooks and dreams. she had met three different types of men, that have the exact same looks. the big twist in the end, was when she find out that everything was a setup and that it was just all a part of the newest reality based show on tv. however the only thing that was true in the whole story, was the love of the man for her. this movie was really something. it was different, fresh, new, interesting and unpredictable. kudos to all the people behind the success of a fresh concept. the director, the actors and ofcourse, the writer, i really want to meet her, she's a genius! everything was given at the best it can be. custumes, locations, dialogues and just simply everything. movie is rated 10. everyone needs to watch this to realize that filipino movies, especially this local romantic flicks, which i love, are really and are definitely not bad at all! trust me!

movies 107

FIRST DAUGHTER (Katie Holmes) - a story about the daughter of the US president, who had lived her life with secret service agents and who had been trying to get away with all that and be a normal college student. well, she was given a chance, she went to cleege, still with her secrt service agents, but had accidentally fell in-love with one of them, without knowing that he really is one of them. well, that's just basically it. carlo and i enjoyed it, yes, but we really think that it's just a repeat of mandy moore's chasing liberty, because it's the excat same concept. i liked chasing liberty more actually. well, katie holmes was cool and simple, i rate the movie 8.

THE SWEETEST THING (Cameron Diaz) - a story about a happy-go-lucky woman with her two girlfriends who really love the night life and who thinks that dumping guys is like going to the bathroom. now you see them, now you don't. but then christina found the man for her. thinking that peter's brother is getting married, she and her friend went accross the state to attend the ceremony and see peter, which so happened to be the groom himself. well, the story just revolves around how playful the girls are and some nasty things and stuff. we didn't really enjoy the movie, we find it so ... i dunno ... we just didn't like the concept of adding musical on a movie that talks about sex and penis and sex and penis. eeewww! we didn't even get to realize the connection of the title to the story. rated 6.

AGENT CODY BANKS 2 (Frankie Muniz) - a story about a teenager who will regularly left their home for some summer camp, as their parents are aware of, but it's really a field training for young CIA and FBI agents like cody. well, yeah, it's another one of those action thrill spy kids thing nianne enjoy. rated 8 for the cool effects and all the production cost.

SMALL VOICES <mga munting tinig> (Asunta de Rossi) - a story about a young teacher who had chose to work on a rural province located on some far far away mountain, rather than following her mom in the states she's an immigrant visa holder. the movie just revolves on the connection between the teacher, her students, the parents of her sstudents and just simply how worse we are when it comes to education and the importance of it. the movie really touched and it really made me cry, especially in the end where the kids joined a choral competition, they sang a piece named mga munting tinig which is really something. i really would like all the teachers, the students and the parent in the world to see it. i rate it 10.

reasons why women always had a hard time to find the man of their dreams ...

1.The nice men are ugly.
2.The handsome men are not nice.
3.The handsome and nice men are gay.
4.The handsome, nice and heterosexual men are married.
5.The men who are not so handsome, but are nice men, have no money.
6.The men who are not so handsome, but are nice men with money think we are only after their money.
7. The handsome men without money are after our money.
8. The handsome men, who are not so nice and somewhat heterosexual, don't think we are beautiful enough.
9. The men who think we are beautiful, that are heterosexual, somewhat nice and have money, are cowards.
10. The men who are somewhat handsome, somewhat nice and have some money and thank God are heterosexual, are shy and NEVER MAKE THE FIRST MOVE!!!!
11. The men who never make the first move, automatically lose interest in us when we take the initiative.

an instant vacation

last sunday, carlo and i were planning to see a movie after attending mass on the afternoon. but, what happened was absolutely very much better than that!

around 11am, my mother-in-law called and said we are going to laguna to unwind. go! we hurried to finish the laundry, fixed our stuffs, all set to go. we left the house around past 12noon and went to my in-laws house. when we got there, everybody's waiting for my brother-in-law, who had dropped by the bank for some piso, hehe! we left around past 1pm. there were "11" of us inside a toyota altis, wow! pepper, his wife rose, their son ralph, their househelp lynn, my mother-in-law, iris, my sister-in-law, angel, their neice, carlo, nianne, me, and "the baby-on-the womb"! =) ooops, not mine, rose's. hah hah! ok, literally we were eleven, and we managed to stay input on an hour and a half trip!

by 3pm, we arrived at Villa Mejia Hot Spring Resort, Brgy. Pansol, Los Baños, Laguna. we just fixed the stuffs we had first, then we ate, changed clothes and jumped off the pool. the water was really warm and very relaxing for the body, mind and spirit. i really did not want to get out of the water anymore. i want to sleep there, and only if i can do my job there, shet, i can take calls forever. hah hah! the place was really nice. the place was beautiful, the water and the surroundings is clean, there was a lifeguard, there were floaters for sale, and there's a videoke! it was really cool. it's a good thing there's not much people around that time, it's not yet the peak season that's why, and the water on the shower room were overflowing. we definitely enjoyed ourselves. we get off the pool around 6pm, then we rinsed ourselves and fixed our stuffs. we left around 7pm, and arrived in manila around past 8pm.

it was really a nice instant- immediate - vacation - getaway from all the stress we all have. and the best part of it was the bonding we all had shared as a family. i just wish we can do that more often. it's so much happiness to see the kids playing together, having so much fun like there were no tomorrow. and it's amazing to still watch how "the three" (pepper, carlo and iris) play swim race, ride on top of each other and tease non-stop, come to think that they're adults already, well, kids will be kids and siblings will be siblings, and i can see the big smile on our mommy edith's face, and everybody is happy, it just feels so good! we'll definitely go back, if not soon, it's tomorrow! wow! we wish! =)
