a birthday bash/baby shower

it was our friend wack's birthday last saturday, november 26, happy birthday dear! but aside from his birthday celebration, he planned a surprise baby shower for cess and their baby halo (Havannah Loren), who's coming in a month time. yes,
the baby shower was supposed to be a surprise, but unfortunately, cess knew about it already a few days after wacks decided and started planning the event, so it's no longer a surprise ... hah hah!

we arrived at their place around 8pm, and found out that joi and joe got lost actually ... hahah ... you guys are so funny. we had some isaw for appetizer, then had some pasta, beef kaldereta and chicken afritada for dinner. beer and stories were overflowing, we really missed wacks so much. we were planning to go to Star City or something, that's why we were supposed to leave the place around 10pm. unfortunately, one of wacks' visitors arrived and brought a magic sing! OMG! so whatelse, we sang our hearts out for about an hour or two, until we got tired and just asked cess to open the presents for baby halo, since it's their baby shower that night as well. we gave baby halo a pair of pink baby shoes from chicco. joi and joe's gifts were as cute as well, too bad that nianne's too old for those stuff, hah hah!

we left their place around midnight. dropped joi and joe at ayala since joi had to attend to another party, and joe have to do some stuff in the office. we really had a great time.

happy birthday baby wackie, we miss you so much here at work. take care of yourself, expecially your family. we'll always be here for you guys. i'll always be your "mommy nicole" no matter what. good luck to you and cess. you guys are very lucky to have halo! we're very excited to see her grow up and befriend with nianne and pj! heheh. thank you for everything dear. we love you! mwah!

baby Ian's christening

my nephew-in-law, Ramon Christianmar Reyes-Cadiz got baptized last sunday, November 27. the ceremony started before 4pm, which was held at the Parish of the Heart of Jesus and Mary (somewhere in south triangle, qc), and the reception was held at Max's Restaurant in Roces Ave., QC.

it was just a simple and solemn ceremony, with the family, some close friends and the godparents. there was a little baptismal room at the back of the church (exclusive for baptisms) that could accommodate just a few people just to maintain the solemnity of the sacrament. baby ian was so quiet and behave the whole time, he was just asleep actually. heheh ... it was just a little funny 'coz the priest was arabic so he's some kinda eating his words, hah hah ... i'm so bad. the ceremony just lasted for about 30 minutes so we left the place before 5pm.

we headed to Max's Restaurant in roces (nice place) for the reception. it was an early dinner so bunch of food were served for around 50 guests. there's the restaurant's famous fried chicken, soup, shanghai, pancit, and some veggies with beef. it was a simple get together for the family, some of them even just saw baby ian for the first time that day, he's three months old now.

we gave him a baby bath set from enfant. i have to think of something literally useful that's why, heheh ... carlo wanted to give the little baby boi a huge box of huggies diapers (useful enough, heheh), but i really think that it's kinda stupid ... hah hah hah! at least we got something better than that!

welcome to the christian world our dear baby ian. we haven't had a baby in the family for six years now so your arrival really brought joy and happiness to all of us. your tito carlo, me and ate nica wishes you all the best that life could offer. be a good son to your parents, a great brother to your kuya rap, and a loving ian to everybody. we'll always be here for you! mwah!

nianne and her twin sister, asthma =(
nianne had one of those asthma attacks again for about three days. this required her to skip school last wednesday ... tsk tsk tsk ... not good. she now have a new pedia-pulmo doctor (pediatrician-pulmonologist), we just hope she's as good as her previous one. and i just hope that this season of colds and sickness will end soon. haaay ...

it's a date!
i had a date with girlfriends joi and nell last friday. we watched harry potter and the goblet of fire at greenbelt 4 over some corndog and popcorn; window shopped for some unreasonably expensive bags in prada and alike; had dinner at shakey's, and talked for about two hours. we were supposed to have had our nails and hair done but since i had work that night, it was rescheduled.

and lastly ... i had to go to work last sunday ... sigh ...

harry potter and the goblet of fire

harry potter and the goblet of fire

this was just the second time a saw a harry potter movie. i haven't red any of it's books and am not a harry potter fanatic to begin with, but i enjoyed it. the first harry potter film i saw was the first sequel, harry potter and the sorcerer's stone. it was really nice and the effects were amazing. and since i don't really enjoy these type of fantasy movies, i didn't like the story well, but the way they delivered it was really good.

harry potter and the goblet of fire was the fourth book, and is the fourth sequel of the movie series, which means, i already missed two parts. the movie has it's own story to tell so i didn't felt lost in track at all. it was extremely better than the first one, effects, character, story wise. i liked this one more. the effects they've used have improved a lot, all it takes is some smoke effects and the animation is no longer obvious, it appeared so real. the character's have improved a lot as well. they're more attractive now, hahahah ... the three lead characters are no longer kids and you can really see how much they've grown up. i can really attest to the very big difference, since i've watched them the first time.

the new characters in the movie did a great job as well. the twins (they're cute), the reporter/journalist (she's so funny), and i love harry's love interest. (be reminded that i'm not a fan so please don't ask me to enumerate their names, hahah ... ) i realized that the production is trying to get an "asian beauty with a scottish accent", that's why our Heart Evangelista did auditioned. (unfortunately, she only got the asian beauty part so she was not good enough for the role, heheh).

the story is really interesting. why in the world would you allow your child to join such a tournament where it could be the reason for his death! i mean ... in the movie it was shown that every single student would like to be part of it, and that it's an honor to be called a champion for the tournament (one of the players), but you can actually die in there. really weird. and i didn't really enjoy the part where they have introduced the so called "demon" who came back to life ... something ... i dunno, maybe it's just because i don't really like fantasies. all in all, the movie appreared so nice, kudos to the characters, the people behind the production, the director and cinematographer, the script writer, and of course, the author of the book. it's a great film and people are going crazy over it, hahah ...

after watching the film i realized that maybe i should really read the book to understand the debates on "how far/close the movie is with the book" thing. however, it's a movie guys, if they are going to film a copycat of the book and give every single thing that it says, it might be boring and less exciting don't you think? blog week 156

a day with our departed loved ones

we have spent a whole day with my late lola nena in himlayang filipino last monday, october the 31st. we know that all soul's day is actually on the 2nd of november, but we prefer to go to the cemetary earlier than the feast day to aviod huge amount of people, trash, traffic, etc.

we traditionally visit carlo's late dad and grandparents on all saint's day, but for this year, unfortunately, carlo, nianne and i were not able to join the family since carlo's schedule didn't allow us to. so for the first time in fourteen years, as carlo had described it, he dreamt about his dad ... we'll definitely visit him soon, very soon.

we used to visit my great-grandparents on all soul's day, but since both of us have work that day, it's rescheduled as well.

trick or treat

nianne attended the trick or treat party at our subdivision on monday night after dinner. the kids gather on one place, then all together they walked around the subdivision, knocked at the houses chanting ... trick or treat ... candies and chocolates and, well, junkfoods were all over. some of the kids were afraid of the dogs, some cried because they were left behind, but all in all everyone was just oh so delighted and not scared.

the children came in cute costumes of course. the others came in scary stuff with all those blood effects and masks, but we decided to make nianne beautiful than scary so she came as a princess. there was a party after the trick and treat thing, jollibee chicken, and fruit juices were served. the girl who came in a darna costume, and the boy with the vampire get-up, won as best in costumes. while nianne won as best dancer (whatelse!) along with two other kids.

the children went home with some giveaways and a lot of treats with them. but the best part of it was, the kids went home with a huge smile on their faces. this was nianne's first time and she was very happy. see you next year!

Fennela Mae Nisperos, CPA

one of my childhood friends, mae, a graduate of accountancy in UST, passed the 3 (three) board exams for accountants two weeks ago! take note that this is her first time to take it, we're so proud of you dear! you're now a Certified Public Accountant, can i hire you? hahahah ... kidding!

her parents hosted a thanksgiving celebration, lunch time last saturday, and the best part of that day was, i got a chance to see my lifetime friends and even got to talk to them for four hours! wow! i really miss these girls ... i've known them all my life, they're like my friends since birth and we really treasure the friendship. what's so cool about us is that, altho we don't see each other that often, when we get to gather for a specific occassion, we just talk and exchange stories that as if we were together everyday, nothing has changed. and it's so funny to reminisce the old times, where we get to talk about those days when we were still small and playful, it's really refreshing. i really hope we can do this more often girls. and i love you all! mwah!

curiosity = coincidence

curiosity = coincidence

the internet really has everything. do you agree? although sometimes it's so odd to find out that things can never be original, not even ones identity or name.

Well, since there's not much calls here in the office and i got tired of browsing and reading the same sites, i played with some search engines and look on weird coincidences i found out of my curiosity...

first, I tried searching my name in friendster, Nicole Cadiz, and guess what, there are three (3) Nicole Cadizs on the results ... how funny

then I tried searching CarloNicole (which is basically the name on our joint friendster account) and there were two results ... now this is getting to be weird ... I mean ... our so called "loveteam" is not even original? OMG!!!

And the last one was really scary. I tried searching Nicole Cadiz in google and yahoo, and the first result that came up is about a certain Nicole Cadiz who died tragically on 2001!!! Check it out!

http://www.dropzone.com/news/AcampoSkyDiverDiesinJump.shtml

it was really scary. I really used to check search engines, and it always gives my site or blog as the results when i type in my name, but when I tried it this time, the very first result was something else and it was sooo scary. I dunno. Maybe I'm just paranoid or over-reacting of some sort, but knowing that there's a "dead Nicole Cadiz" already, is really disturbing ... And guys ... FYI, that's not me ok! Hahahah ...
